Practice interactive theatre as a process for personal growth, community-building, and healing. In a supportive environment, we'll explore sound, movement, images, and stories to envision and enact change in our lives and communities. Techniques are based on the work of Augusto Boal, Brazilian author and founder of Theatre of the Oppressed. No experience necessary; shy people welcome!
 
Sundays 3:00-4:45 (starting September 26th)

Theatre for Action! Forum Theatre Workshop
Starting September 30, 2010
 
Learn how theatre can be a powerful process for community reflection, dialogue, and action! Explore issues that are important to you and your community while working to create an interactive Forum Theatre piece. This workshop will include a work-in-progress performance for friends and community, offering a chance for participants to experience first-hand the Forum process, from start to finish.
 
Forum Theatre Workshop is open to any who have taken Theatre for Community & Transformation, or those who have prior experience with Theatre of the Oppressed. No prior performance experience necessary!

About the Facilitator:
Tamara Wallace has practiced Theater of the Oppressed since 2000, including training with Augusto Boal and other internationally recognized Theater of the Oppressed facilitators.  Her work has included research and travel to Brazil's rural Central West to rehearse and perform with members of Brazil's Landless Workers' Movement, and theater facilitation for Teatro Popular Jornalero, a theater project of VOZ Day Laborer Education Project.  Tamara is founder and co-director of TheaterChange* TeatroCambio, and is committed to supporting theater to promote individual, collective, and societal healing and transformation.
