Living Stages is a theatre organization committed to theatre for community reflection, empowerment, and action. We offer workshops, trainings and performances to Portland communities and beyond, using theatre to "turn actors into non-actors-- in the theatre and in society"-- in the words of Augusto Boal, founder of Theatre of the Oppressed. We have been offering workshops, training, and support to the Portland community since 2001.
Theatre of the Oppressed is a body of work started in Brazil by activist and theatre educator Augusto Boal that is now practiced around the world as a process of community action, reflection, and transformation.
